Lemon Beagle
Lemon Beagle type is coat color is quite common to this popular breed of dogs. In fact, Beagles can occur in any hound color, but bi-colored and tri-colored species are most widely spread. The Beagle breed originated many centuries ago, but early Beagle-type dogs were much smaller in size and had a different body built. “Glove Beagles” were popular among British royalties due to their diminutive size and gentle disposition.
Beagles are very affectionate and amicable companions. They are very interactive, especially with children, and usually enjoy playing with other Beagles. These dogs cannot bear lack of action and can become extremely noisy and destructive if abandoned for a long time. Young Beagles can be hyperactive, and they cannot do without outdoor exercise. They enjoy daily walks and love to play ball. Coat color is no indicator of behavior or temperament, so Lemon Beagles are as vivacious and playful as those of any other acceptable color.
Beagles are very inquisitive by nature. They possess a superb sense of smell, as they have long been bred for scent-hunting. They are very adept at tracking wild game, and many species show striking results at field trials. Being extremely sensitive to smells, they are prone to escape. These dogs should not be allowed to walk on their own without a lead because once they pick up a trail they follow it and may never return. Beagles require a well-fenced yard for daily rigorous exercise. Lemon Beagles have the same basic behavioral characteristics as all other Beagles. Beagles stand 11-16 inches tall at the withers, but the maximum wither height accepted by the AKC is 15 inches. The AKC distinguished between two Beagle types, which vary according to size: dogs around 13 inches, and those measuring 13-15 inches high at the withers.
Beagles have a mind of their own and often rely on their nose. This makes them somewhat difficult to train. Beagle training is particularly challenging for novice dog owners; therefore, qualified breeders do not usually recommend these dogs for young dog owners. At the same time, Beagles are not responsive to rough training, and it is absolutely imperative that training process is organized in a consecutive and logical way, according to a dog’s age, temperament and trainability. Beagles are capable of various activities related to their natural hunting instincts. The American Kennel Club, as well as other major clubs, hold field trials for Beagle owners to test their dogs’ potential. Lemon Beagles, along with other Beagles, are fully entitled to participation in such events.
