Beagles Pictures - Improving the Breed

Since the basic objective of most Beagle clubs is improving the breed through responsible breeding and ownership, breed organizations try to educate breed owners all they can. Education includes information on Beagle history and development, main breeding trends, health and care advice, and basic training techniques.

Most Beagle clubs consider organization of events and trials an effective means of breed perfection. By encouraging breeders and owners to take part in such trials and breed for better physical and personality qualities, clubs are doing a great job. Field trials are one of the most popular activities for the Beagle. The dog makes use of its sense of smell and excels in tracking prey.

Beagle organizations also take care to ease the task of choosing breeders to buy a puppy from. As a rule, all breeders associated with breed clubs support the code of ethics and breed their dogs with high standards in mind. Therefore, unlike backyard breeders, club members do not fail to test their breeding stock for congenital diseases. By doing so, they produce sound Beagles and improve the breed.
