Beagle Rescue

Beagle Rescue clubs are non-profit organizations dealing at rescuing stray and abandoned Beagles and finding new owners for them. Unfortunately, so long as people make hasty decisions to buy Beagles without learning the basics of dog care, there will always be a job to do for dog rescue specialists. Not infrequently, people abandon their pets due to unexpected circumstances, such as a sudden disease, departure or death of someone in the family, which can make it impossible for the owner to properly care for his or her dog.

Beagles can be a little willful and stubborn, which often discourages young owners. It takes a good deal of experience and professional attitude to find an effective method of dealing with the dog’s stubbornness. Unable to obedience train their dogs, owners do not seem to be able to find a better alternative than to surrender their Beagles to a rescue club. Sometimes, people fail to fully realize the degree of responsibility they accept when buying a dog and turn out to be unprepared for unexpected difficulties. Beagles cannot stand loneliness and usually become very vocal and destructive if left alone. This often causes conflicts between family members, and results in an environment in the house that is in no way comforting for a Beagle. Eventually, people have to turn to Beagle Rescue specialists.

Beagles are renowned for their exceptional scenting abilities and remarkably keen nose. Bred as scent-hunters from times immemorial, they have developed an instinctive liking for various scents. It is difficult to get a Beagle’s attention back when he picks up a scent. In following it, a dog may run too far away and get lost. Therefore, Beagles should not be walked without a leash. Unfortunately, many Beagle owners take little notice of this behavior and thus lose their dogs.

As a rule, Beagle lovers appreciate health and purity and, what’s most essential, affordable price in their dogs. The latter is one reason why many Beagle lovers disregard the importance of a breeder’s reputation and accept low price as a decisive factor in making their choice. They purchase puppies from backyard breeders, who keep so many dogs and puppies in cages that it is physically impossible to provide healthy conditions and care for them. This affects any dog’s health directly and may impair a dog’s genetic purity. More often than not, such breeders lose control over the breeding process and thus breed dogs of doubtful quality. Needless to say, Beagles purchased from such breeders are much less likely to show good results at field trials. Unfortunately, it is often too late that Beagle owners realize they have chosen the wrong breeder, and failure to perform at a show is yet another reason why Beagle Rescue organizations have to accept new stray Beagles every day.

There are much more Beagles roaming the streets of our cities than rescue organizations can take; therefore, they do not accept all dogs. Beagles from rescue clubs are not intended for breeding programs, and they should be spayed/neutered. Also, they receive vaccination and treatment for parasites and infections. Dogs undergo various behavior correction procedures, so that they feel okay in their new homes. Beagle Rescue clubs do their uttermost to make the lives of their rescued dogs diametrically different from the one they once had.
